The UCSF Lab Resource Group is made up of lab managers and representatives from various campus organizations including EH&S, ITS, Supply Chain Management, the UCSF Logistics Store, the police department and Facilities Management. We meet once a month to discuss topics that impact researchers on campus. One of major missions is to ensure that the research community has a voice in the development and implementation of policies, operations, and regulations pertaining to laboratory research. Over the past several years we have implemented a new campus-wide lab coat laundry service, developed a checklist for new lab personnel, worked with EH&S to streamline waste management, and helped Facilities roll out their new policy for seismic bracing of equipment.
In addition, we sponsor an annual vendor showcase at the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses in partnership with the Research Resource group, award competitive professional development awards to offset the cost of conference or course registration for lab managers, and we host a social at the beginning of each year where lab managers can network and meet colleagues.
