The NRG Oncology Biospecimen Bank, located on the Mt Zion campus of the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), seeks a qualified and motivated Staff Research Associate II to join their team. The NCI funded NRG Oncology Biospecimen bank is an integral part of NCI sponsored NCTN phase 2 and 3 clinical cancer program supporting clinical trials in head and neck, brain, prostate, lung, breast and GI and other cancers. During the course of its operation the NRG Oncology Biospecimen Bank has collected and stores over 700,000 biospecimens from patients enrolled on these late stage therapeutics trials. Under general supervision, the SRA II will work in a team to facilitate daily operations of the biospecimen bank. This SRA II will be responsible for daily receipt of biospecimens, logging of biospecimen receipt, biospecimen distribution and all other aspects of biospecimen banking. The SRA II will work with other biospecimen bank members, the Operations Laboratory Manager and the NRG Oncology Biospecimen Bank Co-Directors on the day to day operations of the tissue bank.
The overall purpose of this position is to facilitate the execution of translational research projects, database management, ensure biospecimens required for patient care are processed as directed by protocols, and to provide support to the laboratory manager. This is a complex and varied position requiring organization, efficiency and independence with a talent for multi-tasking in an industrious work environment.

The Lab Manager Steering Committee is pleased to announce that applications for the 2021 Lab Manager Professional Development Award are now being accepted. The deadline for submitting applications is October 31st, 2021 . If you have participated in a class, seminar, or training or are planning to participate in a class, seminar, or training this calendar year, please submit your application. Return your completed application form to [email protected] by October 31st. The awards will be announced in November 2021.

The Lab Managers’ (LM) Professional Development Program provides scholarships to eligible UCSF employees. The goal of the Professional Development Program is to support employees in developing, broadening, and enhancing their skills and knowledge in performing their current position and/or future career growth within UCSF or another UC Campus.

Historically, the LM Professional Development Program will provide one award up to $1000 and four awards up to $500 per fiscal year for each employee participant to cover expenses for meeting registration, tuition and books. One can apply for funding for a course completed or to be completed within the calendar year.


Staff Assembly Scholarship Program

 

Per the program website the scholarship award amount is $300. Scholarships are awarded twice annually. Scholarships are available to career (50% or greater full-time employment), non-represented, non-union, PPSM policy-covered staff who have completed probation. NOTE: this program is for staff that are not represented by a bargaining unit (union) -- at the administrative level, this is Analyst 1 and above.
